Information about referrals to Ipswich Hospital outpatient clinics

When one of the clinicians from the practice has arranged to refer you to a specialist clinic at Ipswich Hospital they will try and give you an idea of how long to expect to wait before you receive an appointment.

It is difficult for us to be precise about expected waiting times as different specialist clinics have different arrangements, and this can also vary due to unforeseen circumstances.

The clinician who refers you will tell you if the referral is either:

Waiting time

Non-urgent

12-18 weeks (approximate; some departments are longer, up to 24 weeks)

Urgent

6-8 weeks (approximate)

Two Week Wait

(for suspected cancer)

Expect phone contact from the hospital within two weeks

If you need to make enquiries about your wait for an appointment then please phone
